Elke grew up in Germany where she worked in hotel management for a number of years before moving to Johannesburg, South Africa, where she met Glen. In 1999 the family immigrated to the UK.
In 2010 she co-founded Virtual Motorpix (VMP) which she still manages today. This photo agency focuses on automotive history with many images dating back to the 1940/1950s. And besides Glen’s photos, VMP also represents a number of other photographers.
In 2011 Elke translated Porsche 911: Source Book, The Full Specification History 1963 to 2009 (Jörg Austen) from German into English for Haynes Publishing. She very much enjoyed the challenge this project gave her and in the process she has become a Porsche convert. Her favourite Porsche by the way is the Speedster 356 A.
In addition Elke has translated many of Glen’s interviews from German into English for his books, as well as subedited articles, books and the VMP blog.
She is a whizz on social media and very much enjoys the interaction online. She will be handling Twitter and Facebook for Porsche Road & Race as well.
Elke has attended the Le Mans 24-Hour race five times since 2012, managing the preparation of images for the VMP website, posting blogs and handling the social media. Elke says, “There is no race like Le Mans, the atmosphere is second to none and being there is just such a privilege. And yes, I do stay up for the full 24-hours!” She has also attended several other events in a media capacity, such as the Goodwood Festival of Speed and the Goodwood Revival, as well as the 24h of Spa.
She says that her interest in the automotive world has grown over the last 35 years and she is now fully immersed in it!
