Porsche’s sixth edition of the by now much-anticipated Rennsport Reunion kicked off on Wednesday 26 September 2018. You could have expected that this would be a really big one for Porsche, with it being their 70th anniversary year, but the Stuttgart manufacturer really pushed the boat out with this one. 4th September 2018 by: Glen Smale | 1 Comment

I received the email inviting me to join the judges panel for the 2018 Concours Masters Celebration of 70 Years of Porsche on Saturday, 1st September. It didn’t take long for me to accept as this would be an opportunity to get up close to some stunning machinery, and to be involved in a very special anniversary event. As it happened, we had glorious weather with wall-to-wall … [Read more...]

29th August 2018 by: Glen Smale | 3 Comments

The 1983 Group C World Endurance Championship was arguably one of the most exciting and competitive racing seasons in years. So, why was 1983 a good year in Group C? Well, this was the first year in which Porsche released the new 956 race car to its approved customer teams, and this resulted in increased competition, and packed grids. All good stuff for both the spectator and … [Read more...]

8th August 2018 by: Glen Smale | Leave a Comment

The 2018 Concours Masters at Salon Privé on Saturday, 1 September will celebrate 70 years of Porsche with a spectacular timeline of models. The Stuttgart manufacturer has achieved much within the past seven decades, and as a relatively small player in its early years, the company’s race cars would frequently embarrass the big-budget teams by beating them. By focussing on … [Read more...]

Porsche 908 – the endurance specialist

6th June 2018 by: Glen Smale | 2 Comments

Introduced in 1968, the Porsche 908 was one of the longest running prototypes in the company’s history, as it was still doing duty twenty years later in 1988. The 908 took on many different forms, Long Tail (LH), Short Tail (KH), 908/02 Spyder, Flounder and 908/03 and Turbo, and it was successful in all of these body forms. Essentially, the 908 was Porsche's endurance … [Read more...]
