So, without further delay, pour yourself a glass or mug of your favourite beverage, sit back in your rocker, and take a trip down memory lane with us…
Ernst Fuhrmann – the inspiration behind the 911 Turbo
Ernst Fuhrmann is probably best remembered for designing the 4-cam 4-cylinder Carrera engine that powered so many race victories in the 1950s and 1960s. Some readers pointed out that he nearly culled the 911 in 1980, but he was also a very strong proponent of motor racing, so we do have a lot to thank him for. Kieron Fennelly penned a superb profile on this complex man which you can read here.
What a race – Total 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps
Total 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps, 4 May 2019: On the Friday before qualifying, the forecasters were already predicting snow for race day. We watched the approaching weather front as the cars completed the first few laps, and right on cue the snow arrived accompanied by a driving wind. To their credit, the authorities didn’t call a halt to proceedings, and the drivers handled the challenging conditions admirably. You can read the race report here.

New 3.8-litre 911 GT3 RSR triumphs at Le Mans 2007
Le Mans 24 Hours, 16-17 June 2007: Porsche introduced their new 3.8-litre 911 GT3 RSR (Type 997) for the 2007 season, and although this car was in action right from the start of the year, its appearance in the Le Mans 24 Hours in June was a first for this model. And what a debut, because the car won its class first time out driven by Patrick Long, Raymond Narac and Richard Lietz. We had the opportunity of getting up close to this great race car, and interviewing all the drivers from that victory back in 2007. Read the full history here.
